Members of Girl Scout Troop 3315 completed their Bronze Award project today when they delivered 25 emergency preparedness kits to the Bowmar Elementary School office and another 25 kits to the Lifting Lives Ministries family shelter. Anna Paiten, Charlotte, Cora, Emma, Lizzie, and Abby designed their project to make a difference for kids in their community – to educate and supply families so that they can better navigate emergencies. Over the past six months, the girls researched natural disasters, determined which emergency kit items would be most useful in each situation, created a blog to promote safety information (disasterpreplikeagirlscout.blogspot.com), and worked with sponsors to gather the items needed to create their emergency preparedness kits.
For those
interested in making their own kit at home, the kit contents are listed below. The girls also encourage you to add
family-specific and additional items that can aid your household during a
disaster!
